Clouds FULL of Promise

Last year I wrote a devotional on clouds..

My verse was “Your mercy O Lord, is in the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches into the clouds”  Psalm 36:5

I quoted a number of verses where the Scripture draws our attention to the clouds filled with Glory and Hope.

In the last 2 weeks I have read 2 verses that I did not mention in the previous devotional and I wanted to share them as they are filled with Promise and Hope..

Zech10:1 “Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime: it is the Lord who makes the storm clouds. He gives showers of rain to men” (NIV)

When we see dark storm clouds it is often the storm clouds of discouragement, anxiety, bereavement, sickness and stress... or pandemic and we think no good can come from them – they are just bad for us but Zechariah wrote to the people to encourange them... even when things were stacked against them, victory belonged to them through a coming leader God would send.. God allowed the black clouds so He could provide what they needed.

Its not always easy to see what God is doing with us and for us but be assured that if we belong to the Lord, if we love Him, all things work together for good.

Clouds will come - They are part of life but by God's grace we do not need to be depressed by their presence... God made the clouds so that He can give showers of blessing... Now that is a fantastic promise - full of hope..

Rev 1:7 “Look He is coming with clouds, and every eye shall see Him” (NIV)

“Look, He is coming.” “Look, pay attention.” Why? “He is coming.” It doesn’t say, “He will come.” It doesn’t say, “He shall come.” It says, “He is coming,” He’s already on the way, the process of His coming has already begun.

Matthew 26:64 coming in the clouds of Heaven

Mark 13:26 then shall they see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and Glory

Luke 21:27 he tells us exactly the same as Mark and here in John we are told He is coming with clouds

So, Matthew, Mark Luke and John all tell us to look at the clouds - He is coming even if for the moment they are dark clouds....

They are full of promise!
