WHY WE EXIST
We exist for a ton of many different reasons. We would like to share a few with you below. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to us. Thanks so much!
We feel that God has a very specific plan for us. We do our very best to follow that plan as closely as possible. We feel that as we follow the Lord's plan for us that he will bless us beyond our imaginations.
Reach the lost and broken
We exist to worship our Lord. We have a Father in heaven who looks out for us 24/7/365. We want to do our part to give back.
Serve in our local communities. Just about every community has people who need help. We exist to reach those people.
We exist to bring hope and love to the people in our area. We want them to know that they are not alone and someone out there wants to help.
We exist to grow the church. We understand we are a part of a larger body. We want to do our part to grow the kindgom of God.
OUR FOCUS
FOCUS ON THE WORD
The Bible is the blueprint on how we should live our lives. We strongly believe that if we follow the Word that we will grow stronger as a community, and close to God. We rely heavily on what the Bible says so that we may not stray away from the path that God has set before us.
FOCUS ON GOD
As long as we keep our focus on God we can not stray. God has set forth a path for us to follow. He has a very specific set of plans that he wants us to follow, and it is our mission to follow His instructions as closely as possible. We understand that we all fall short of the glory of God. We pray and work everyday to do our very best.
FOCUS ON EACHOTHER
As long as we love one another we will grow stronger as a community of believers. We feel that engaging in fellowship is a very important tool that God calls for us to do as often as possible. If we continue to reach the lost and broken, and extend grace, God will bless us for our efforts.
OUR HISTORY
1995 - Started meeting at the Baptist Leadership Education Center (BLEC) in Whitby
Iin 1995 following the Billy Graham campaign 24 members from Pine Ridge Bible Chapel in Oshawa left, with their blessing, to start a new work in Whitby. Others joined from a number of different places so we all wore name tags as we got to know one another. The initial leadership consisted of Kirk Dupre, Angus Henderson, Doug McIntosh and Bob Spry. We were initially called Lynde Creek Bible Chapel.
2000/2001- Construction of New Building
On May 13th, 2000 we had a Dedication of the future site of the new chapel. Then, in the summer of 2000, construction on the new building began. It progressed throughout the year with the Lord blessing the work with funding and volunteer workers. On February 11, 2001, the first meeting of the newly renamed assembly, Rossland Ridge Bible Chapel, commenced.
2008- Planning started to extend the building
Planning started in 2008 for the completion of the building by adding an auditorium and more classrooms
2013 - Building Completed
The building was finally completed with the new Auditorium, a multi-purpose room and additional classrooms.
